This year Northwest Ballet marks it’s tenth season of bringing classical full-length ballet productions to audiences in Washington’s Puget Sound area. Inspired by the many individual contributions and volunteer hours that went into planning, creating and supporting the vision of a professional level ballet school and junior company, Northwest Ballet has been able to build an exciting repertoire of classical ballets that have been performed in this part of Washington for the first time. The excitement that has been created around these productions is hard to describe in words. Yes, and with any pioneer endeavor we have had our share of ups and downs, twists and turns and leaps and catches.
As we enter our tenth season we want to acknowledge and commemorate everyone who has performed, helped create, volunteered and shared with us this wonderful adventure of bringing classical productions that have inspired people during our short history. The dedication of our dancers have been the backbone of these productions and their hard work, sweat and even tears have given testimony to this beautiful and adored performing art form. Marking our ninth winter season of ‘The Nutcracker’ along with over 20 new ballets added to our spring and summer productions has established a new precedent for classical ballet in this region.
